The Alexander Mosaic (classic male art print)
This is the most celebrated ancient mosaic which has survived into the Modern Era. It depicts AlexanderÂ’s defeat of the Persian king of kings, Darius III, at the Battle of Issus. The original is 19 feet by 10 feet. It is composed of approximately one million tesserae. It was discovered in the largest house in Pompeii, the House of the Fawn, in a room overlooking the central peristyle garden.
